Twitter is screening upvote and downvote buttons on tweets

Twitter is working on new upvote and downvote reactions for tweets to accompany the common selections to retweet and reply. Twitter confirmed it was testing the aspect for a little team of end users on iOS, and it’s currently been spotted according to multiple tweets from customers that are component of the examination group.

Twitter writes that iOS users may see upvote and downvotes in quite a few different designs (up and down arrows, a heart icon and a down arrow, and thumbs up and thumbs down icons) and that it’s screening the attribute to “understand the sorts of replies you find applicable in a convo, so we can work on ways to clearly show more of them.” At the moment votes are not community.

While Twitter hasn’t stated if it programs to increase up and down voting as a permanent feature (or how voting impacts what you see in your feed), there are very clear parallels to be drawn to Reddit, which options upvoting and downvoting as a way of surfacing a subreddit’s favourite replies, responses, and posts. Twitter states that for now upvotes and downvotes really don’t influence the ranking of replies.

Twitter’s toyed with other varieties of tweet interactions in the past, which include reactions that appeared to mimic the emoji reactions Fb takes advantage of for Fb posts and Messenger messages. Twitter’s merchandise lead Kayvon Beykpour has also mentioned that the organization prepared to get the job done on dislikes last calendar year, professing the attribute was just one of Twitter’s several “top priorities” in reaction to a user’s tweet.
